Mountain Quest

Mountain Quest is a JTP project funded by a generous $25,000 grant from the US government that will be implemented between October 2023 and September 2024. It aims to enrich the lives of 500 underserved youths through immersive day camps in the Blue Mountains National Park.

Empowering underserved communities, Mountain Quest offers a unique opportunity for children and youth to connect with Jamaica's natural heritage. Participants will explore the mountains, learning from trained volunteers and camp counselors while engaging in structured activities and unstructured, soul-refreshing moments in nature.

Activities

● Recruitment:

Educators and community organizations will identify and register 50 youth groups, accompanied by chaperones, for a total of 10 camps.

● Educational Preparation:

Pre-trip lessons will prepare participants, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the mountain environment.

● Day Camp Experience:

At Holywell, participants will enjoy guided activities, free exploration, and a nourishing lunch. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt and a memorable mountain photograph.

● Follow-up:

Activity sheets will guide adult leaders in educational follow-up, ensuring a lasting impact beyond the camp.
